The reviewers of this article studied using islands and island-like habitats isolates to determine how the size and number of islands affect species richness within the island groups or island chains. The cumulative species-area relationships for both plants and animals species on island archipelagoes show that the collections of small islands were suitable refuge islands for more species than comparable areas composed of one or a few large islands.
